City Church Charlotte
The leadership team of this church plant were at an impasse related to direction, vision, and leadership dynamics. They were looking for an outside perspective to give them counsel and guidance regarding their future.
Enter Buck Rogers
After a few initial phone interviews with the key decision makers in the church I flew out to Charlotte for a series of meetings to clarify the jugular issues.
Solutions in Action
My key recommendation focused on the need for a new governing board configuration and for the lead pastor to initiate a coaching relationship with me to work on vision clarity and his own personal development. Since 2009, Al and I have talked twice a month discussing the most pressing issues City Church Charlotte is facing.
The church is growing in a steady and sustainable direction. New people keep coming and lives are truly being transformed. In July of 2013 the congregation made the bold step to purchase a church building and is now poised to move to two services. The governing board’s role is healthy and redefined, and the church is developing a robust ministry staff.
When I first met Buck I had just planted a small church which was facing complete collapse. Today five years on, CityChurch is thriving, we have grown to 250 people and are about to purchase our own building. Through his support and guidance of me personally, Buck has been truly instrumental to that process. We talk every two weeks and over the years he has helped me think strategically through almost every aspect of church life. Our leadership structure, our small groups, our planning process, my preaching, our leadership development program, our website...they have all been shaped by the legacy of Buck's advice. Leading an independent church can be lonely, so it has been particularly invaluable to have Buck as a coach, a friend and a sounding board. No matter what any week brings Buck has always been there to listen, advise and when necessary challenge! As CityChurch stands on the cusp of a a huge new ministry opportunity I remain hugely grateful for Buck's help in the past and glad too that we will continue to work together into the future. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you.
